Simple Layouts are "So Cute"

Happy Monday everyone!! My hopes are to feature scrapbook pages, both traditional and digital on Mondays, and because I mostly do digital scrapbooking I called on my Mom and Creative Team member Rae to help me with the traditional pages.

I absolutely love this clean and simple layout, the angled photo strip adds that "WOW" factor. A touch of texture added with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and Big Shot and the cute flowers punched from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch add to the whimsy and appeal.

The two digital pages were created in Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio program...I'm working on my little boy's first album, I think I am done up to November 2009! I love to journal on my scrapbook pages so I am trying hard to get "sort of" caught up before I forget all of those special moments.

I love these two pages as they are clean and simple and would be really easy to re-create with traditional scrapbooking.

Criss Cross Card

The My Friend stamp set, Pocket Full of Posies Designer Series Paper and a whole lot of rhinestones are the star of this Criss Cross Card!

This is a super easy template to follow if you want to switch it up from the traditional cards every once in a awhile and it takes no time at all to come together.

I am a designer paper fanatic so I love that I can showcase some of my favorite designs on one card, I think even bold prints would look pretty cool!

Give the Criss Cross Card a try and post your creation on our Facebook page, I would love to see what you come up with.

Behind the Scenes

Today I want to take you behind the scenes and share with you how I photograph my cards.

I use a little bit of sticky tack to hold a piece of 12x12 designer series paper onto a blocky picture frame that stands on its own. I then place another coordinating 12x12 piece of paper underneath a see-through plastic desk mat. The desk mat gives a nice reflection to add that extra little pizzazz! I place this in front of a nicely lit window, out of direct sunlight and snap my picture.

And this is what you get....
This is a card that was made by my Nana and given to me and my husband for our anniversary! Isn't it beautiful?

Where I Find Inspiration

When I get stuck in a creative rut these are the places I look for inspiration....

1. Fashion/Home Decor

I love flipping through fashion and home decor magazines and catalogs for inspiration for both my card making and scrapbooking! It is the perfect place to look for color inspiration and embellishment ideas!

2. Industry Magazines
I am a scrapbook and card making magazine collector, that is for sure! They are jam packed with fantastic ideas, layouts, color combos, embellishment ideas and everything in between. My two favorites are Canadian Scrapbooker and Scrapbooks, ETC. Even if you don't scrapbook these magazines provide loads of card making inspirations well.

3. Idea Book & Catalog
I refer time and time again the Stampin' Up!'s Idea Book & Catalog. Not only is it full of projects that we can "CASE", I love to use the Designer Papers to create color combos. If you don't have one of these catalogs yet be sure to email me at kimberleyeklund@hotmail.com to find out how to get one!

4. Split Coast
Split Coast Stampers is a rich source of inspiration for paper crafters, no doubt about it! From their fabulous line up of tutorials, amazing daily challenges, and fantastic gallery of projects! If you need inspiration for a specific stamp set, find loads of ideas here!

5. Page Maps

Page Maps simply rocks! Every month new scrapbook layouts are posted and from time to time card maps are posted too! They even have two amazing books out.....ask our Creative Team member Rae about them, she was lucky enough to receive them as Christmas last year!
